On Wednesday, October 5, 2016, Sydenstricker was pleased to donate $5,000 to The Food Bank of Central and Northeast Missouri for the Buddy Pack Program. The Buddy Pack program is designed to get bags full of kid-friendly, nutritious food to children who rely on free or reduced-price lunches during the school year. Buddy Packs typically contain two ready-to-eat entrees, a fruit cup, cereal, shelf-stable milk and a nutritional bar. With peanut butter being provided monthly. There are 7,500 Buddy Packs distributed each week during the school year at 156 schools in the 32-county service area. According to The Food Bank our donation will provide nearly 28 Buddy Packs every week for an entire school year.
We look forward to a continued partnership with The Food Bank and their efforts as a regional disaster and hunger relief network that acquires and distributes millions of pounds of food annually to partner agencies across a 32-county area. Through their partnerships with manufacturers, wholesalers, processors, growers, retailers and restaurants they are able to turn every dollar into $21 worth of groceries. The Food Bank works with 132 food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters and other agencies to ensure food gets into the hands of those who need it most.
