Listen in as Tom & Brad Nobbe visit with Kim Schmidt, Executive Editor of Farm Equipment.

In 1907, brothers William and Henry Nobbe founded Wm. Nobbe & Co., with the main revenue source coming from buggies. But by the 1920s, the brothers had added John Deere farm equipment and Chevrolet and Buick automobiles. Henry continued to come into the dealership nearly every day until he passed away when he was 97.

Today, Henry’s grandson, Tom, and great grandsons Brad and Jared are involved in the business. Having started as one store in Waterloo, Ill., Wm. Nobbe & Co. grew to operate 13 stores. In January 2020 the dealership merged with John Deere dealership group Sydenstricker Implement to form Sydenstricker Nobbe Partners, with 26 stores across Missouri and Illlinois.

“Our long-term objectives are 100% aligned. So the new company is going with the same direction that both families wanted individually, which was that the families want to be involved in this business. We want to be active employee-owners, and we want to be around for a long time to take care of our employees and customers,” says Brad Nobbe about the merger.
